Three decades building the backbone of Brazilian finance.
Matera was born in the early 1990s at a pivotal moment in Brazilian banking: the country was digitizing rapidly, and financial institutions needed technology partners who understood both the regulatory complexity and the pace of change that the market demanded. From day one, we positioned ourselves not as a software vendor but as a long-term engineering partner.
Over the following years we grew alongside the institutions we served — from traditional banks navigating the transition to digital channels, to the new generation of fintechs and digital banks that disrupted the market entirely. Each wave of change sharpened our craft and deepened our conviction that financial technology should be treated as critical national infrastructure, not a commodity product.
Today, Matera is one of Brazil's foremost financial technology companies, operating the core systems behind some of the country's most recognized digital banks and processing more than six billion Pix transactions annually on behalf of our clients. That scale is not an accident — it reflects three decades of deliberate, disciplined engineering.
Born to serve financial institutions
Matera is established with a clear mandate: build resilient, purpose-built technology for banks and financial cooperatives at a moment when Brazil's financial system is undergoing radical transformation.
Building the core for a new digital era
Matera's Core Banking platform gains traction with mid-size banks and credit unions. The architecture is rewritten from the ground up to support open integration, laying the foundation for the API economy to come.
Powering Brazil's digital banking wave
As digital-native banks redefine the customer experience, Matera becomes a critical enabler — powering the launch and rapid scale-up of institutions such as C6 Bank and Digio. Our platforms prove their resilience under consumer-grade volume for the first time.
Instant payments at national scale
When Banco Central launches Pix, Matera is ready. We integrate the Pix ecosystem across our entire client base and rapidly become one of the largest processors of instant payment transactions in the country — a position we continue to hold today.
Virtual assets, cross-border operations, and beyond
Matera now enables virtual asset operations in full compliance with Bacen regulations, and our Digital Twin platform supports multi-currency, cross-border account infrastructure — positioning our clients for the financial future that is already arriving.
Why we come to work every day.
Three principles anchor everything Matera builds — from a single API endpoint to an entire core banking deployment.
Mission
To provide financial institutions of every size with the secure, modern, and regulatory-compliant technology they need to compete, grow, and serve their customers with excellence — removing operational complexity so they can focus on what matters: building better financial experiences.
Vision
A financial system where any institution — regardless of size or legacy infrastructure — can access world-class technology, operate in full regulatory confidence, and innovate at the same pace as the most sophisticated players in the market. We build that system, one platform at a time.
Purpose
Technology that moves money is technology that moves lives. We take that responsibility seriously — engineering our platforms with the precision, resilience, and ethical grounding that financial infrastructure demands. Our purpose is to make the financial system more reliable, more accessible, and more equitable for all Brazilians.
The principles that shape every decision we make.
Matera's culture is built on a set of values that have been tested across three decades and two very different eras of Brazilian finance. They are not wall-art aspirations — they are the criteria against which we make hiring decisions, design product choices, and evaluate our own performance.
Trustworthiness
Financial infrastructure demands unconditional reliability. We never ship what we cannot stand behind.
Disciplined innovation
We push boundaries — but we test rigorously, document thoroughly, and ship responsibly.
Client success first
Our clients' growth is the only metric that truly measures our work. Their outcomes are our outcomes.
Openness & transparency
From our API design to our ESG reporting, we operate with the transparency we expect from the institutions we serve.
Speed with substance
Velocity matters in fintech — but not at the cost of correctness. We move fast because we prepare well.
Care for people
For our team, for our clients, and for the end users whose financial lives our software touches every single day.
We believe financial technology is not neutral. Every system we build either increases or decreases the resilience, accessibility, and fairness of the financial system. We choose to build systems that increase all three.

What sets us apart from every other fintech vendor in the market.
Depth of regulatory knowledge, breadth of platform capability, and a track record that speaks at genuine scale — these are not things a newer entrant can replicate quickly.
Native regulatory depth
Every Matera platform ships with built-in compliance for Banco Central, Receita Federal, and municipal treasury requirements. RegTech is not a bolt-on module — it is woven into the architecture from the first line of code. Our clients benefit from a team that has navigated every major regulatory change in Brazilian banking for over thirty years.
Proven at genuine scale
Six billion Pix transactions per year. Ninety million active digital accounts. These are not theoretical benchmarks — they represent real production load across real clients in a market that tolerates zero downtime. Our architecture has been stress-tested at a scale that most vendors have never approached.
End-to-end platform coverage
From Core Banking and Payments to Cash Management, Credit, Risk Management, Insights, and Digital Twin — Matera covers the full operational stack of a modern financial institution. Clients can adopt a single module or an integrated suite. Either way, the underlying data model and integration layer are consistent.
Cloud-native from the ground up
Matera's platforms are not legacy systems retrofitted for the cloud — they are engineered for it. Elastic scaling, microservices architecture, and API-first design mean that a credit union processing ten thousand transactions a day runs on the same foundational technology as a digital bank processing ten million.
Intelligence embedded, not added
Our Insights platform brings proprietary credit scoring models, personalized analytics, and AI-assisted decisioning into the same operational environment as the core ledger. There is no data silo, no ETL lag — the intelligence works on live transaction data, delivering genuinely actionable outputs for credit and retention decisions.
Cross-border and virtual-asset ready
Through our Digital Twin platform, Matera enables multi-currency global accounts and cross-border payment infrastructure. And with dedicated support for virtual asset operations under the Bacen framework, we help institutions move into new asset classes with the same compliance confidence that underpins every other part of their operation.
Engineers, compliance specialists, and domain experts — working as one.
Matera's team is unusual in the fintech world: we combine deep software engineering talent with an equally deep bench of financial regulation specialists. In most technology companies, compliance is handled by a small legal team that reviews what the engineers have already built. At Matera, regulatory expertise sits inside the product teams — which is why our clients rarely face post-launch compliance surprises.
We recruit for intellectual curiosity and long-term commitment, not just technical credentials. The problems we solve require people who want to understand the full system — from the Bacen normative instruction to the microservice that enforces it, and from the credit analyst's workflow to the AI model that supports it. That kind of holistic thinking is what distinguishes a great financial technology professional from a competent one, and we invest heavily in developing it across our entire team.
Our culture is deliberately non-hierarchical in how ideas are shared, and deliberately rigorous in how they are tested. Anyone on the team can propose a product direction. No one ships something that has not been validated at scale.

Excellence the market already knows.
More than 280 institutions across Brazil use Matera to power their core operations. These are a few whose stories illustrate what the partnership looks like in practice.
A full-service digital bank for individuals and businesses, C6 Bank launched on an open, fully digital architecture — demanding a core banking partner capable of sustaining rapid product innovation and very high transaction volumes simultaneously. Matera's platform provided the scalable foundation behind C6's ability to bring innovative products to market faster than traditional incumbents.
Core Banking · PaymentsBradesco's digital bank Digio was founded in 2016 with a mission to simplify how Brazilians manage their money — starting with a no-annual-fee credit card and progressively expanding its product portfolio. Matera supports Digio's digital infrastructure, enabling the bank to deliver a growing suite of financial services without the operational overhead of a traditional banking stack.
Digital Banking · CreditPernambucanas, one of Brazil's largest retailers, created Pefisa as its financial arm — and moved decisively ahead of competitors by becoming the first retailer to offer Pix payments. Matera's technology enabled Pefisa's rapid Pix integration and powers a streamlined personal credit origination process that dramatically shortened approval times for the retailer's customer base.

Responsibility is not a report we file once a year — it is how we operate every day.
As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, Matera aligns its business strategy and operations with the Compact's ten principles on human rights, labour standards, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption. We publish annual progress reports and hold ourselves accountable to third-party verification.
We believe a technology company with Matera's reach in the financial system has an obligation that goes beyond software delivery. The financial infrastructure we build directly shapes who can access credit, who can participate in the digital economy, and who is left out. We take that seriously in every product decision we make.
